The Centre is the only independent organisation of its kind to have devised and taught a dedicated two-year, full -time vocational course at HND level over a period of nine years (1995-2004) to more than 120 students.
Malcolm Knight’s professional experience at postgraduate and undergraduate levels spans some forty years of professional experience with special courses offered to MA students at the University of Glasgow Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies, BA Acting Students at The Royal Scottish Conservatoire (RSAMD), Foundation Fine Arts students at Glasgow School of Art and Drama Students at the University of West of Scotland (Ayr Campus). He has also trained aspiring performers through international workshop programmes offered in the USA, Mexico, Norway, Holland, Greece, Italy, Poland and Russia.
The combination of this practical experience and scholarship combined with the collections and resources offered by the Centre makes the level of our professional service second to none.
The puppet workshop was fantastic. Malcolm presented an interesting and informative workshop. I certainly learned a lot and I know that the students were amazed at the range of puppets and were fascinated by the history and culture that Malcolm presented. One student brought in Indian puppets this week and in the coming weeks the students will be making their own puppets and then working together in groups to develop a story and then present a puppet performance!
I hope that one day soon I will be able to attend one of the puppet performances on a Saturday with my children. Please pass on my thanks and appreciation to Malcolm.
